Teething never ends

Kai is now getting two bottom cuspids and one or two top cuspids and still working on that bottom molar. His teeth are coming in way before schedule. He is only 13 months and only has two teeth to go before he gets his two year molars.. He also caught a little bug and had a fever, cough and a runny nose.
So he has been a little less happy at times..
He is all better now.. must be those pomegranate seeds and sardines he has been eating..
Tonight he tasted cream cheese, he things it is delicious.

Oh the horror

Pictures can't possibly show the fascinating horror of our new visitors..yes that is right there are two. Right outside our bedroom window above where our heads lie at night. These guys are big. One of them sleeps curled up between the sills during the day then they sprawl out at night time.

That is a dime I am holding up. I thought there was just one and the other night.. I saw another right opposite of it. I am not sure if they are friends or competitors..You can see it in the next picture. It looks like a reflection but it is another spider. It is good inspiration for some insect prints I have been wanting to do...

Peas please..

Be still a mama's heart.. my boy likes peas! I was just lamenting the other day how we need to find a way to get Kai to eat more veggies. Then I gave him whole peas and he has been eating them ever since! Another favorite is sweet potato fries..

making peach jam

Recently I finally got a chance to make some peach jam.
I used this lower sugar recipe (still has three cups) in the end I am not sure how much lower sugar it is because it made almost half of what the recipe said it would make. It tastes great! A lucky few will get them as holiday presents...

Kai started to walk today!

One week past his birthday he took his first steps! I can't believe it!
After his first steps he walked a bunch of times. Soon I am going to be chasing him around!

First birthday party!

 

My Baby is one!!

Kai turned one on the 28th! We went to an indoor playground and the next day was his big birthday party. It was a mad rush to get things ready on time, but we did and it all went well.
Here is him eating his sugar free, dairy free, egg free, gluten free birthday cake. You can find the cake recipe here and the frosting recipe here. It actually tasted really good. I painted that wooden one with food coloring and then put it on the cake. He wouldn't give up the one  and got blue food coloring all over his face.

That was me one year ago today. Still going for our walks the day before Kai was born.
I can hardly believe it has been a year. I am so busy trying to finish up things for Kai's bday other wise I would probably be crying that my little baby is a year already!
All these little glitches keep coming up so it has been hard to get the party stuff done..Kai is cutting two molars..I can see them and I think I could feel both today. So instead of going to sleep at a normal hour he has been up..last night Wes had him in the carrier at 9:30 at night while making a cake. This morning when he wouldn't take a nap I had him in the carrier making yet another batch of frosting for the cookies.
The first cake I baked I forgot to fold in the egg whites ( hard to concentrate with a little cranky guy at your heals) then I made the next cake and realized one two layer cake would not be enough. So we have to bake 4 cakes! We have three done.. one more to go!
Then I started making the cookie favors that take forever and are not that easy to do. The first batch of frosting I didn't put enough sugar in ( maybe I need more sleep?!)
We were planning on getting leis for everyone and ordered them from an ebay seller, turned out not to be a good seller. We got our money back but no leis and no time to get more.

 These are just some of the glitches among many.. the latest is that Wes is currently at the hospital! He is fine, just probably sprained his ankle yesterday. He just has to make sure there are no fractures. It is really swollen. Oh man! It will be a miracle if we have food and a clean house  for Kai's bday!
